xQc takes aim at Twitch streamers’ silence on mature content policy – In a recent livestream, popular Twitch streamer xQc, also known as Felix, voiced his discontent with fellow streamers who are noticeably silent on Twitch’s latest adult content policy changes, despite having actively criticized online gambling in the past.
The Canadian star, once a prolific gambling streamer himself, expressed frustration at what he perceives as a lack of consistency among content creators in addressing controversial platform policies. xQc highlighted the contrast between the fervent backlash against online gambling on Twitch in 2022, which led to restrictions on betting games, and the relatively muted response to the recent changes in the adult content policy.
xQc takes aim at Twitch streamers’ silence on mature content policy
The streamer, who signed a substantial $100-million deal with Kick earlier this year, called out those defending the new mature content, questioning the absence of the same level of energy that was directed towards the gambling issue.During the livestream, xQc exclaimed, “But motherf**ker, I will say this. I won’t tweet this, but I will tell you this right now. The way people are banding together and being like, ‘All these t***y new content, all you do is not watch. All you do is not watch.’ Where was this f**king energy, where was this energy back then?”
The changes to Twitch’s adult content policy have sparked a division within the streaming community, with users expressing both support and criticism for the new rules. These changes allow for some s*xually suggestive content as long as the correct label is used for the broadcast, using Content Classification Labels. However, the use of age prompts and labels has faced sharp criticism.
xQc took issue with the inconsistency in the reactions, pointing out that streamers who previously united against gambling on the platform are not equally vocal about the adult content policy.
While some personalities, like Asmongold, have expressed positive views on the new changes, xQc publicly called out Twitch for allowing actions like twerking and pole dancing on the platform.
As the debate continues within the streaming community, xQc’s critique sheds light on the evolving dynamics and challenges faced by content creators on platforms like Twitch.
