xQc questions NICKMERCS over KICK gambling controversy- Popular streamer Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel has publicly called out fellow streamer Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff. He accused him of being “disingenuous” regarding his gambling activities on KICK.
When KICK first emerged on the streaming scene at the beginning of 2023, it faced doubts from many who believed it was just a temporary alternative for streamers affected by Twitch’s ban on gambling content.
xQc questions NICKMERCS over KICK gambling controversy: “Nick is bugging”
However, by the end of the year, KICK, backed by Stake, had solidified its position as a serious contender to Twitch. The platform managed to sign major streamers to non-exclusive deals, allowing them to stream on both platforms simultaneously.
NICKMERCS joined the ranks of streamers making this transition, signing a deal with KICK to stream there for the next year. However, what raised eyebrows was his revelation that he felt compelled to gamble while streaming on the platform. According to NICKMERCS, gambling was “part of the contract” with KICK. This statement did not sit well with xQc, who questioned the authenticity of this claim.
xQc went on to assert that KICK aims to move away from gambling content and embrace a more mainstream approach. He suggested that if NICKMERCS has a contractual obligation to gamble, he had personally negotiated that clause into his contract.
xQc even claimed that NICKMERCS had signed separate deals with both KICK and Stake, adding to the complexity of the situation.
The former Overwatch star expressed his disappointment in NICKMERCS’ public statement. He further said he, along with other streamers who transitioned to KICK earlier, could have made similar claims but refrained from doing so, as it would be considered “stupid.”
As of now, it remains uncertain whether Nick will address these allegations or if the controversy will continue to unfold. Nick has already made it clear that he is willing to stream from a location outside the United States to cater to his gambling content.
The situation has sparked intense debates within the streaming community, and viewers are eagerly waiting to see how it unfolds in the coming days.
