Worlds 2023 Semifinals Day 2: T1 stomp JDG to reach LoL Worlds 2023 Grand Finals
The last LCK team, T1, faced off against JDG, the LPL team looking to complete the first-ever Golden Road in League of Legends in LoL Worlds 2023 Semifinals.
T1 started off with a bang, showcasing their craftiness in the first match and completely outplaying JDG in all departments with their strategy. The unique Jhin-Bard pick for the bottom lane allowed them to execute unique plays and dominate JDG. With this lineup, T1 closed the game comfortably in 24 minutes getting a 1-0 lead in the series.
JDG bounced back in the second game on the backs of their signature top laner 369. He dominated the game on his K’Sante champion and paved the way for JDG to get a foothold in the series. With the help of some clean performances from Knight and Ruler, JDG was able to win this game in 37 minutes to equalize the series.

In this match, it was JDG who had a commanding lead for the most part. But they made a critical mistake after getting the second Baron Nashor. The entire JDG team over extended on the middle lane and was punished by Faker’s superbly timed Emperor’s Divide on his Azir. With T1 aced the entire enemy team and rushed down to their Nexus to win the game and secure match point in an anti-climatic fashion.
T1 had the momentum in their favor and it clearly showed in their gameplay in the fourth game. Despite JDG going for their comfort champion picks, T1 was able to stop them from bouncing back and answer them in kind with their own unique picks.
The match swayed in Faker’s squad during the mid- game when they caught off guard JDG players multiple times. From there, the ending became inevitable as T1 meticulously secured objectives to snowball their lead and close out the game in 31 minutes.
T1 have silenced all their doubters and haters by taking down the two best LPL teams back-to-back in a dominant fashion. With the form that each player has attained in the Knockout Stage, T1 looks unstoppable and it seems like an LCK team might finally lift the Summoner’s Cup in Korea. Weibo Gaming will have to prepare their best going into the Worlds 2023 Grand Finals to compete with a resurgent T1.
Unfortunately for JDG, their journey in the tournament ends, halting any hopes of a Golden Road achievement for the players. LPL fans will be devastated with the results of their teams in the Knockout Stage and will have to pray that Weibo can stop the T1 hype-train.
