Worlds 2023 Finals: T1 defeat Weibo to become LoL Worlds 2023 champions, Faker lifts fourth trophy
Going into the Grand Finals, T1 had not lost to an LPL team in this Worlds 2023 tournament. And with the performance they delivered, it was not a surprise to see why.

Game 1
While Weibo opted to go for meta picks in the first game, we saw T1 leaning towards their signature champions like Yone on Zeus, Ahri on Faker, and Lee Sin on Oner. This lineup completely dominated Weibo as the LPL fourth seed was unable to match the tempo and aggressive playstyle of T1. T1’s team fights were way better and well coordinated than Weibo, allowing them to win the first match in 30 minutes and get a lead.
Game 2
For the second game, Weibo tried to copy T1’s own strategies by going for a double ADC bottom lane and Ahri in the middle lane. Unfortunately, T1 countered them perfectly by getting dive champions like Sylas, Gwen, and Nocturne. Weibo was squeezed out of the map with T1’s ever-present threat and ultimately fell so back that they were not even able to put up a fight when T1 threatened their Nexus at 29 minutes.

Game 3
Being on match point, T1 opted for their comfort champions while Weibo chose to go all in on the scaling lineup strategy in this do-or-die situation. While Weibo was able to keep up with T1 in the early game, they fell against T1’s onslaught and were ultimately swept away by Faker and his sqauds momentum. It was a quick game and series as T1 won the third match in 25 minutes.
This has tournament has been a redemption story for T1 players. Going into the tournament, nobody considered them favorites. But all 5 players gave their career best performances to reach the Finals and win it. Faker showed he is still the best mid-laner even though he has been playing League of Legends since 2014.
Keria silenced haters who questioned whether he was the best support player in the world. Zeus, Oner, and Gumayusi overcame their choking allegations to perform better than their competitors in the tournament. Zeus was even declared as the Finals MVP. It was a complete team effort from T1 and they truly deserve to lift the Summoner’s Cup at LoL Worlds 2023.
