Worlds 2021: Edward Gaming qualifies to Grand Finals after defeating Gen.G 3-2 in the Semifinals. It is going to be an LPL vs LCK Grand Finals at the League of Legends World Championships 2021, just like last year. Both teams were neck to neck with each other in almost every match. Although it went to the 5th match, it was Edward Gaming who defeated Gen.G there and advanced to the Grand Finals for the first time in their organization’s history.

Worlds 2021: Edward Gaming qualifies to Grand Finals after defeating Gen.G 3-2 in the SemiFinals
1st Match
Gen.G went for an enchanter meta support pick with Seraphine on Bdd, Lulu on Life, Miss Fortune on Ruler, Gwen on Rascal, and Lee Sin on Clid. Edward Gaming picked a late-game combo with Scout on Orianna, Flandre on Jax, Viper on Lucien, Meiko on Nami, and JieJie on Jarvan IV.
While Gen.G was able to come on top in team fights due to some good plays by Clid’s Lee Sin and got two Barons, EDG was always winning objectives like the two Rift Heralds, Mountain Soul Dragon, and the 3rd Baron at 35th minute. During the Elder Dragon fight, EDG sent Flandre on his Jax to split push Gen.G’s base and he was able to end the game before Gen.G members could come back and defend.
2nd Match
Edward Gaming went with a slight poke lineup with Flandre on Graves, JieJie on Jarvan IV, Scout on Ryze, Viper on Jinx, and Meiko on Lulu. Gen.G went with Renekton on Rascal, Lee Sin on Clid, Azir on Bdd, Jhin on Ruler, and Rakan on Life. While EDG’s draft looked more solid, it was Gen.G who outplayed them.
Like the first game, Clid was phenomenal on his Lee Sin. Gen.G was also more proactive, always looking for kills, pickoffs, and team fights before major objectives. A bad gank by JieJie’s Jarvan IV on Bdd’s Azir in the 27th minute resulted in a reverse 4 member wipe on the EDG side. Clid also stole a Baron from EDG in the 29th minute and Gen.G aced all EDG champions. Thus Gen.G won the game in the next minute.
3rd Match
Gen.G took Renekton on Rascal, Lee Sin on Clid, Zoe on Bdd, Miss Fortune on Ruler, and Lulu on Life. Edward Gaming went with Gwen on Flandre, Jarvan IV on JieJie, Viktor on Scout, Lucien on Viper and Nami on Meiko. Gen.G punished EDG’s early game aggressive tactics and gained a 2k gold lead within 10 minutes. While EDG almost came back and took Cloud Soul Dragon, a beautiful flank from Rascal’s Renekton led to 3 members from EDG getting killed. Gen.G then successfully pushed for the EDG base and ended the match at 40 minutes.
4th Match
At match point, Gen.G took Graves on Rascal, Viego on Clid, Azir on Bdd, Miss Fortune on Ruler, and Lulu on Life. Edward Gaming went with Kennen on Flandre, Jarvan IV on JieJie, Zoe on Scout, Lucien on Viper and Nami on Meiko. Scout’s Zoe got an early First Bloof and double kill on Clid’s Viego and Bdd’s Azir when they invaded JieJie’s Jarvan IV raptor camp.
EDG kept their gold lead in the game although Gen.G was taking the Dragons and other objectives. By taking the 1st Baron at the 28th minute, EDG was able to push for Gen.G’s base, get an ace at the 31st minute and then close the game.
5th Match
In the final match of the series, Edward Gaming went with Graves on Flandre, Jarvan IV on JieJie, Ryze on Scout, Jhin on Viper, and Leona on Meiko. Gen.G picked Renekton on Rascal, Xin Zhao on Clid, Orianna on Bdd, Miss Fortune on Ruler, and Rakan on Life. Both teams played safe in the early game with a 1-0 kill score for EDG and Gen.G.
EDG was successfully able to force Gen.G to take risky team fights at multiple points in the match in which they lost badly. Gen.G also got aced in the 23rd minute fighting for the 3rd Cloud Dragon. By taking the 2nd Baron in the 30th minute, EDG was able to force their way into the Gen.G base, ace them and then end the game.
