Riot Games pledged to expand its exposure to new countries after a significant success in esports in 2021. It included various new regions in the Stage-1 Challengers to uphold that promise. South Asia held two seats in the APAC Stage-1 Challengers, and the top two teams from VCC 2022 battled for a spot in the Reykjavik Masters against the top team from SEA.
The event’s exact details have yet to be announced, but Skyesports stated in its official statement that further information on registration and the format will be forthcoming soon. The official tournament for making it to the APAC Challengers in Stage One was NODWIN Gaming’s Valorant Conquerors Championship. The event qualified India’s Velocity Gaming and Global Esports, but neither team was able to qualify for the ongoing Valorant Masters Reykjavik event.
However, after considering the region’s potential, Riot Games has opted to enter the competitive scene directly and organise the Valorant Champions Tour Stage 2 SA Challengers. It will take the place of NODWIN Gaming’s Valorant Conquerors Championship, which has become a huge hit in South Asia. As a result, the South Asian region should be able to participate directly in the global VCT circuit and flourish in the future days. However, it needed to be highlighted that the South Asian Team isn’t getting any direct chance in VCT Masters but has to go through VCT Apac challengers as usual.
