VCT LOCK//IN Day 5 Results: Cloud9 and Evil Geniuses’ journey have come to a halt in São Paulo
DRX vs Cloud9 (2-1)
The American representatives dominated DRX in the first map Pearl and won it with 13-3 round score. But the Pacific team were no pushover as they bounced back in the next map Haven. It was a close series but DRX managed to secure a 13-7 win. DRX took revenge by dominating Cloud9 on the third map Icebox. With a huge 13-2 win, DRX won the series 2-1 and secured the quarterfinal spot of VCT LOCK//IN.
Evil Geniuses vs Talon Esports (2-0)
The series between Evil Geniuses and Talon Esports went back-and-forth a lot. In both maps, Haven and Split, Evil Geniuses gained a significant lead in the first half. Unfortunately for them, Talon Esports also showed their mettle by bouncing back in both these maps in the second half, securing them with narrow 13-11 and 13-10 round scores respectively. With the 2-0 victory, Talon will join DRX as the second Pacific team to qualify for the VCT LOCK//IN quarterfinals.
For both the American teams Cloud9 and Evil Geniuses, the journey in the VCT LOCK//IN São Paulo ends here. Meanwhile, DRX and Talon Esports will face each other in the quarterfinals on Feb. 20 from 1:30 AM IST.
