VCT 2023 LOCK//IN Alpha Bracket Day 1 Results: NRG and Giants advance to Round of 16, CHECK HIGHLIGHTS – After VALORANT got franchised, the first official VCT 2023 tournament is here. 32 franchised teams from the three regions (Americas, EMEA, and Pacific) are competing against each other in a single elimination bracket format. Yesterday, the first two matches between the 4 teams took place. Here is a recap of VCT LOCK//IN Day 1.

KOI VS NRG
- The European team KOI faced off against the American representative NRG in the first best-0f-3 match series of the day.
- The competition in the first map (Icebox) was quite close but NRG managed to secure a win with a 13-11 round score.
- NRG had a much more dominant game on the second map (Haven). The team secured a comfortable 13-9 win over KOI. With this, NRG sealed the series with a 2-0 victory and advanced to the Round of 16.

DETONATION FOCUSME VS GIANTS
- In the second best-of-3 series, the Japanese team DFM competed against the EMEA representative Giants. It was the first S-tier VALORANT tournament showing for both of these organizations.
- Giants completely crushed DFM in the first map (Haven). They took the lead in the series with a 13-4 win.
- Although DFM tried to fight back, Giants triumphed over them again on the second map (Icebox). With a 13-7 win, Giants secured a 2-0 series victory and advanced to the Round of 16.

After qualifying for the Round of 16, both NRG and Giants will face each other there. On Day 2, there will be 3 matches – Karmine Corp vs FunPlus Phoenix, DRX vs BBL Esports, and Paper Rex vs Cloud9.
