VCT 2021 Masters Berlin: 100 thieves becomes the first team to get to the knockout stage in VCT Masters Berlin. The first winner’s match took place on Day 3 of the tournament. 100T and GAMBIT Esports from group C had won their previous matches and were now up against each other. Needless to say, we got to the decider map in the BO3.

Map 1: Ascent

Gambit Esports start things really well by winning the pistol round. But soon 100T caught up by creating disturbances in GMB’s attacks. A very close half which ended at a very close score of 7-5 in favor of GMB. All 100T needed was to win the pistol round in the next half and equalize at 7.

But that never happened. Yet another pistol for GMB which gave them enough lead to win the entire map. From 7-5 to 12-5, GMB won rounds after rounds in the defense to get a good start in the BO3. D3FFO, the Jett from GMB made sure to show his presence throughout the map and he was the one to get those impact frags time and again. Map 2: Icebox

Icebox was 100T’s pick and they had to win this to force the decider. The momentum was on the sides of Gambit Esports and once again they got the pistol round. Things were looking rough however 100 Thieves believed in their game and won the third round after they got a full buy. Although this could not last for long. GMB was not looking to stop. Rounds after rounds brought the score to 9-3 in favor of GMB. An excellent half for them, and given that they had won the first map, everything was convinced that GMB will become the top seed of the group with a 2-0 win.

The second half of the second map begins. Once again GMB gets the pistol round to enter a double-digit score of 11-3. Any normal person would have shut the stream knowing GMB is taking the win, but 100T had something else in mind. Instead of accepting the beat down, they rose under that pressure. An epic streak of 11 consecutive rounds was to astonish each and everyone watching. The comeback was here. Map 3: Split

Everyone was still recovering from the phenomenal comeback by 100T in the 2nd map. GMB was crushed. Just 2 more rounds could have made them the first team to get into the quarter-finals. But bygones are bygones. It was a fresh map, GMB’s selection, and time to give the best for that spot.

For the first time in the match,100T won the pistol round. Good start for them as they defend the compact map of the split. A few backs and fourth rounds were seen to equalize the score at 3-3. This was to be the last round for GMB as once again 100T activated the beast mode to get 6 consecutive rounds to end the half at 9-3. VCT 2021 Masters Berlin

GMB starts a winning streak in the second half. Theory saves were converted to beautiful retakes, and we reached a score of 7-10. Had the streak continued, GMB might have taken the lead as well since there was an eco incoming soon for 100T. But 100 Thieves Hiko couldn’t allow such a thing to happen. He again rose to the need of the hour and clutched out an incredibly pivotal round with a 4k in the viper’s pit. This change in momentum of GMB brought another round for 100T and they reached match point. After this, we got to see a couple of great rounds from GMB, although 100T were just a round away and so after the score of 12-10, we had 100T getting around and winning the BO3.
