Valve has permanently banned players from Team Orca and Team Apex from its events
On 13th March in the early morning, Beyond the Summit which is responsible for the DOTA 2 Valve events in Southeast Asia, announced the disqualification of Team Orca and Team Apex. All the ten players from both of these teams will be permanently banned from any future Valve events.
This step was taken because of the following revelations:
- During the recent DOTA Pro Circuit Southeast Asian Qualifiers, there was conclusive evidence that showed that players from Team Orca used the accounts of those from Team Apex during a competitive match to compete on their behalf. This act has been seen as a severe breach of competitive integrity shown by both teams.
- There was also a separate investigation done by the organizers on Team Orca related to match-fixing allegations. In this investigation, evidence was uncovered which showed that Team Orca had taken part in match-fixing activities in the recent BTS Pro Series as well as other DOTA 2 third-party tournaments throughout the past year.
As all of these malpractices came to light, a decision was taken regarding permanently banning players from Team Orca and Team Apex from future Valve events.
