Leo Faria said:
With Chinese teams starting to participate in global events, including an amazing run from EDG in Masters Tokyo, we have seen how amazing and promising is the community in China. To show our appreciation and to celebrate the one-year anniversary of VALORANT in China next year, we are very excited to bring Masters in Shanghai. 2024 will be a special year for the VCT and we’re happy to have all of you be part of it with us.
Known for its huge population, China already has the most number of players in League of Legends (another Riot Games IP) in the world. Thus in the coming future, there is a high chance of VALORANT also attracting a lot of Chinese players and surpassing the player count of all the regions in the world.
As Leo Faria said, EDward Gaming had a strong performance in VCT Masters Tokyo. They had defeated teams like Natus Vincere (Navi), T1, and even the 2022 VALORANT Champions LOUD, ending the run of these teams in the tournament. It showcases how high the potential of the Chinese region is.
