VALORANT introduces new Thailand-inspired TDM map called Drift in Episode 7: Act III
VALORANT has a Team Deathmatch (TDM) mode featuring a 5v5 combat gameplay. TDM is played on maps created specifically for this mode and the first team to secure 100 kills wins the game. Its a shooting fiesta as players don’t need to manage their in-game economies and just run around the map ambushing/engaging with enemies.
The new map Drift will be released on Dec. 5 in Episode 7: Act III by Riot Games. Drift’s theme draws inspiration from Thailand as can be seen by the tropical beach and floating markets with Thai language boards. The map follows a 3-lane TDM layout with long site lines and routes intersecting at the middle of the map.
Joey Simas, who is the Lead Map Designer for Drift, provided some insights regarding the designs of the map. “Drift takes our approach to TDM maps and carves out more isolated lanes allowing for more predictable fights. It also features a long range mid that has several paths that let you weave in and out of the space for more dynamic engagements,” he said. He also stated the map that has ropes that players can jump up to and switch lanes quickly, providing opportunities for more dynamic engagements.
