G2 Gozen won the inaugural Valorant Game Changers Championship with an incredible reverse sweep victory over Shopify Rebellion. The grand finals of the inaugural VCT Game Changers worldwide tournament brought an outstanding week of VALORANT to an end on Sunday. The first best-of-five reverse sweep in VCT history was achieved by G2 after Shopify Rebellion made a strong start. G2 won 3-2 to take home the Game Changers trophy. The first four rounds of the match on Pearl were won by G2, but after that, Shopify dominated the field. In order to lead her squad to a resounding victory on the first map of the day, Flowerful relied on her tried-and-true Chamber mechanics. After gaining momentum, Shopify didn’t let up and won the opponent’s chosen map, Pearl, by a score of 13-9.
The same thing happened in Bind, where G2 had a 7-5 lead after the first half, but they were unable to capitalise because Shopify won eight out of ten rounds to secure another victory by a score of 13-9.

It was G2 Esports’ opportunity to shine for the first time in the series, and they had one more chance to get things right by winning 1 more map but Shopify had different plans. Finally, Breeze was selected as the world champion for this year. In the first half, G2 Gozen displayed excellent defensive play, winning nine and losing just three rounds. Shopify Rebellion’s inability to employ its attacking agents ultimately handed G2 a significant advantage. After a 13-5 victory on Breeze, G2 became world champions.
Leo Faria, Riot’s global head of esports, earlier in the broadcast stated that the 2023 edition of the female and non-binary VALORANT international championships will take place. G2 probably anticipates building on their success into the upcoming Game Changers era.
