VALORANT Stage 1 Masters: Why was Reykjavik chosen as the host city?
The VALORANT dev team wants to ensure that their international events be played in front of a live audience this year. As most countries in the world have still not eased travel restrictions, Iceland has become a favorable location to host international events for the VCT 2022.
With past events being already held here, the organizers have created a deep relationship and familiarity with the country officials of Iceland. It allows them to arrange the best possible accommodations for all the qualified teams so that they will be able to attend and compete. Apart from all this bureaucracy, Iceland sits in a suitable timezone that allows matches to be favorably scheduled for online audiences on multiple continents.
