VALORANT Champions 2022 Playoffs Day 5: DRX and FunPlus Phoenix advance to lower bracket semifinals

VALORANT Champions 2022 Playoffs Day 5: DRX and FunPlus Phoenix advance to lower bracket semifinals- It was an intense Day 5 at the playoffs of VALORANT Champions 2022. The 4 teams in the lower bracket quarterfinals gave their all to stay alive in the tournament. Ultimately, it was DRX and FunPlus Phoenix who triumphed over their opponents to advance into the lower bracket semifinals. Let us look at the matchups of the day.

VALORANT Champions 2022 Playoffs Day 5

Lower Bracket Quarterfinals

DRX VS FNATIC

Fnatic kicked off the series with a commanding win on the first map. But DRX caught up with them on the second map. Although Fnatic forced overtime, DRX bagged it to level the series.

DRX performed brilliantly on the third map and won it to secure the series 2-1. With this win, they have now advanced to the lower bracket semifinals.

XSET VS FUNPLUS PHOENIX

Both teams looked in top form on the first map. Ultimately, it was XSET who came out on top to take a 1-0 lead. But FPX bounced back on the second map with some impressive performances.

The gameplay on the third map was quite intense. Fans witnessed overtime being triggered twice until FunPlus Phoenix secured it to register a 2-1 series victory. They now advance into the lower bracket semifinals.

VALORANT Champions 2022: COMPETITIVE UPDATE

There was also a moment of glitch that affected the gameplay in the crucial series between XSET and FPX. The organizers jumped in and called for a replay of the final round to maintain competitive fairness.

According to the official statement, “In the final round of the match, a bug caused Killjoy’s turret to fire in the wrong direction. This resulted in false information that directly lead to an XSET player looking in the wrong direction and had a high level of the potential impact on XSET losing the round and match.”

Unfortunately, Fnatic and XSET’s journey in the VALORANT Champions 2022 ends with these losses. DRX and FunPlus Phoenix will compete in the lower bracket semifinals on Sept. 16 for a chance to advance further into the tournament. LOUD and OpTic Gaming will also go head-to-head on that day for the grand finals spot.
