Twitch is Banning People for Cracking Jokes on their Age in Twitch Chat. After it was revealed that the Amazon-owned streaming network has a strict zero-tolerance policy when it comes to cracking one joke, in particular, a popular Twitch streamer has issued a caution to viewers. When it comes to banning its broadcasters, Twitch has a shaky track record, with many of the site’s greatest stars routinely criticizing the platform for its lack of consistency. When it comes to barring viewers, however, it’s a different story. Twitch, on the other hand, isn’t one to mess around.
Making an account on Twitch if you’re under the age of 13 is against the rules of service. It’s even against the rules of service to utilize the platform if you’re under the age of 13. Typing in a chat room? Don’t even consider it. However, as many people discovered the hard way, making jokes about being under the age of 13 is a punishable offense. Many viewers are aware of this, however, Toastie, a partnered streamer, was recently obliged to tell her audience that being too young for Twitch is not a joke.

This happened last night to a regular member of my Twitch community.
Warning to other streamers and viewers: don't make these jokes🤡 pic.twitter.com/4EEwkXMpMq

According to Gamingbible, streamer Toastie told their viewers, “You can’t say ‘I am 12’ folks.” “In my own channel, I’ve seen individuals get banned for it. If you say “I am 12” and then say “haha joke,” a bot on platform will automatically ban you. So don’t even bother.” Despite Toastie’s warnings, someone then put “I am 12” into the conversation, and they were promptly permanently suspended. “No!” Toastie remarked. “All it takes is for someone to file a report against you, and you’re out.” That is precisely what occurred. Toastie said, “I don’t even know what to say.”
These issues persist, and many have noted how quickly Amazon responds to underage users compared to the toxicity that the platform encounters on a regular basis.
