Team Spirit’s Journey to become the Champions of the Dota 2 The International 10. The International 10 tournament of a dark horse team who went on to win the title, similar to the one OG did in TI 8. The Eastern Europe Qualifiers, Team Spirit have overcome all their opponents to win the Aegis of Champions at Dota 2 The International 10, winning a prize of $18,208,300. Let us look back at their journey.
Group Stage
Team Spirit had the worst start in their Group Stage. In the first two games, they faced the runner ups, PSG.LGD and the second runner-ups, Team Secret. In both matches, they lost 0-2 against each team and were pushed to the bottom of the group. They won their next match 2-0 against Elephant Gaming but were again defeated by 0-2 against Vici Gaming. At this point, they were at a do or die stage, and dropping even one match would forfeit their chances of advancing further in TI 10.
They picked themselves up and defeated Quincy Crew, Fnatic, Beastcoast, and SG esports by 2-0 in each game. With the help of this performance, they were able to make it to the top 4 in their group by a narrow margin.
Upper Brackets
Team Spirit was not able to ride the winning momentum that they had at the end of the group stage and their Upper Bracket journey was cut short by Invictus Gaming who defeated them by 2-1 and pushed them into the Lower Brackets.
Lower Bracket Run
Being in a do-or-die spot, Team Spirit was determined to face and win every challenge. They defeated both Fnatic and OG by 2-0 and ended the chance of a repeat TI winner. It was a close match series against Virtus. Pro but team Spirit was able to win by 2-1. Next, they were up against Invictus Gaming and Team Spirit took vengeance for their Upper Bracket loss by defeating IG by 2-0 and ending their TI 10 journey. In the Lower Bracket Finals, they were up against Team Secret who had defeated them by 2-0 in their first group stage match at TI 10. Team Spirit defeated them by 2-1 and booked their place in the Grand Finals of TI 10.
Grand Finals

While the Grand Finals of TI 10 were not as exciting as the ones against OG and PSG.LGD at TI 8, still it was entertaining to watch as both teams were able to dominate their rival at various stages and it went to the 5th match of the series to determine the winner. In the first two games, Team Spirit was able to gain the upper hand through their draft picks and win comfortably to take a 2-0 lead. But PSG.LGD proved that they are not to be taken lightly. Bouncing back in the next two games, they were able to equal the series score to 2-2. In the final 5th match, both teams were able to pick their comfort heroes but it was Team Spirit who was able to perform better and win in the end.
With this, we have a new TI champion and looking at their performance, Team Spirit will surely emerge as a new powerhouse in the Dota 2 Pro Circuit.
