A bit of sad news came for all the Indian Free Fire fans today, Indian teams will not be able to participate in the upcoming FreeFire World Series 2021. Team Elite and Galaxy Racer qualified for the event which will take place next month in Singapore. But due to increasing numbers of Covid-19 cases in India and Singapore. There were some strict decisions taken by them.
Singapore government announced a restriction for the visitors in country who have travel history of India within 14 days. Due to these traveling restrictions, Indian teams can’t visit Singapore for now.
Garena announced this news on their official Facebook page, where they announced, “We have unveiled our plans for the first-ever Free Fire World Series which will be taking place in Singapore next month. But due to recent travel restrictions by the Singapore government, we have to make this difficult decision. We have decided to proceed with Free Fire World Series 2021 Singapore without Indian Teams. Both Indian teams will be awarded a share of the prize pool for qualifying to FFWS 2021. We have explored all possibilities to include them but unfortunately, we need to continue without them.”
The teams will miss the Free Fire World Series 2021 which is the biggest Free Fire tournament in history with a prize pool of $2,000,000 USD.
Will this affect the Free Fire esports scene in India?
Free Fire Esports scene is rapidly growing in India. In the start of year, Garena introduced 2021 Esports plan for India where they will host multiple major tournaments. They also announced an annual prize pool of ₹20,000,000 for India. Free Fire India Championship Spring Season was the first major tournament of the year which had seeding in the FFWS 2021. There will be a couple of tournaments taking place throughout the year.
