Sony unveils a new PlayStation Studios Mobile Division after acquiring Savage Game Studios – In a recent announcement, Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed plans to acquire mobile game developer Savage Game Studios. Sony is also introducing PlayStation Studios Mobile which is a significant advancement in the mobile gaming industry. According to Sony, the new studio would be autonomous and aim to broaden the PlayStation game market and reach a greater number of players.
In the year 2020, developers Michail Katkoff, Nadjim Adjir, and Michael McManus established Savage Game Studios. And now, a brand new AAA mobile live service action game is in the development phase by Savage Game Studios. However, Sony doesn’t want to reveal any information about the upcoming game as it is in its early stage of development.

“PlayStation Studios must continue to expand and diversify our offering beyond the console, bringing incredible new games to more people than ever before,” head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst said. “Acquiring the talented team at Savage Game Studios is another strategic step towards that goal. I’m really excited about what Savage is working on and I’m confident they will deliver a high-quality experience. Our move into mobile, like our expansion into PC and live service games, strengthens our capabilities and our community, and complements PlayStation Studios’ purpose to make the best games that we can.”
The studio will put more of an emphasis on creative, mobile experiences built around future and current PlayStation IPs. The current management group of Savage Game Studios will be in charge of the newly established studio’s operations. Due to contractual obligations, neither the acquisition’s conditions nor its monetary worth has been disclosed.
Speaking about the acquisition Michail Katkoff, the CEO and co-founder of Savage Game Studio said in a statement. “ We have great admiration for the consistency and quality of PlayStation’s first-party catalog, knowing just how hard it is in this industry to deliver time and time again as they have. We’re honored to become part of that legacy and to join PlayStation Studios’ world-class collective of immensely talented designers, artists, and engineers. We’re early in development on our unannounced project but can’t wait to show you more of what we’re working on.”
