And now, two years later, Sonii expresses his wish to talk about his side of the story and provide insight as to what had resulted in their separation.
Back in 2020, Valkyrae disclosed to her followers during a tearful broadcast that Michael “Sonii” Sherman, her longtime boyfriend, and she broke up. She had expressed the pain she had been going through in such tough times. However, Sonii hadn’t spoken much about it. It seems that he is willing to speak about it now. Sonii hinted that he might be talking more about his prior relationship with Valkyrae in the future during a recent Twitch stream in which he discussed it.

“People be saying sh*t”, began Sonii. “I should go on Trainwreck’s podcast. I should. ‘If she’s doing it, why can’t you?’ I mean it’s insanity bro. It’s actually insanity.”
Sonii and Valkyrae were romantically involved for more than 4 years before Rae decided to call it quits in 2020. Since then, Rae has been vocal about how toxic their relationship was and how Sonii’s lack of confidence affected both her own sense of self and her ability to make friends with other men.
Sonii went on to say that he doesn’t “want to talk about it right now”. But it seems that he will still want to talk about it more in the future. “I might have to just say my piece in response to kind of the bullsh*t that I’m hearing.”
Judging from social media reactions, many were quick enough to point out that Sonii had also spoken about parts of it in the past. It’s not entirely clear why Sonii wants to talk about it again, and what he has to say about his former relationship.
