With this announcement, the organization commencement their player hunt to create a championship roster in North America. Interested players were asked to fill out a set of questionnaires. Finally, the hunt is over.
Following last week’s announcement that Sentinels were entering into League of Legends: Wild Rift, the organization announced the six new members who will contend for world championships as representatives of North America.
Joining Sentinels are top laner Matt “MTS” Stover; jungler Kevin “Sheesh” Chavez; mid laner Michael Udall (same in-game alias); ADC Tanner “Rest” Scadden; and support Jacob “Beginnings” Chavez. Joining the organization as head coach is William “ThePierceJ” Ware.
The squad will start competing under the Sentinels banner from August 7-8th where the Wild Rift team will be playing in the first major of the Summoners Series in North America. Similar to the qualification process for the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT), teams will fight for four spots into the next major tournament, culminating toward the NA Championship in October with a prize pool of $70,000.
“Sentinels was always an organization I had been looking at in NA, especially with all their recent accomplishments,” MTS said. “So I’m excited to now be a part of them. Can’t wait to finally compete in NA again with a fresh start and win some trophies.”
“Playing League professionally has been a dream of mine and I’m excited to be back in esports under Sentinels,” Rest said. “While I am role swapping (from support to ADC), I know I can make the adjustments needed and our team can become one of the best!”
“It is invigorating to be able to compete professionally again, especially getting signed to such a renowned organization,” Beginnings said. “I know my potential is a lot greater than what it was when I played before; I can’t wait for this team to become the best in NA.”
Michael Udall joins Sentinels with a proven track record from other MOBA titles such as Heroes of the Storm, where in 2016 he won first place with Arizona State University in the well-known “Heroes of the Dorm” competition. He also spent time playing high-level Dota 2 before making the move to the Rift.
“It feels amazing to join Sentinels,” Michael Udall said. “I watched Bugha win (the Fortnite World Cup) live and was solidified as a Sentinels fan after the Valorant World Championship. Sentinels know how to build and support winning teams. I hope to help bring home first a North American Championship and then work on a world championship.”
