The well-known Gamers8 Esports and the Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud recently announced a new yearly esport event from their official Twitter handle. This grand event will be known as the Esports World Cup. It is scheduled held annually. The first edition will start in the summer of 2024, with massive 6-digit prizes. This will hopefully feature the largest prize pool in esports history, but the amount has not been revealed yet.

The Global Sports Conference was co-hosted by the Saudi Esports Federation and the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Sport today. During the conference, it was announced that the Esports World Cup will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in the summer of 2024. It will replace the previous tournaments under the Gamers8 Esports stage and will be identified with a new name.
Saudi Arabian Prince’s Goals for the Esports Sector
Gamers8, a Saudi Arabian esports competition featured numerous esports competitions there and welcomed numerous teams and organisations from around the world. The tournament series began in 2022 and concluded its 2023 iteration in late August. Over $45 million was awarded in prizes during all of its competitions last year.
In his statement Prince said, ” The Esports World Cup is the natural next step in Saudi Arabia’s journey to become the premier global hub for gaming and esports, offering an unmatched esports experience that pushes the boundaries of the industry. The competition will enhance our progress towards realizing the Vision 2030 objective of diversifying the economy, growing the tourism sector, creating new jobs in various industries, and providing world-class entertainment for citizens, residents, and visitors alike ”
Also, the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, said they’re creating the Esports World Cup Foundation. It’s a non-profit group that wants to help esports folks work together better and make sure esports can last a long time.
Expected Prize pool and featuring games
The competition will feature the biggest prize pool in esports history and the most well-known games in the world from every genre. The competition will include a special cross-game competition format that will encourage and reward clubs for taking on the task of winning the Esports World Cup and aid in the development and sustainability of all esports clubs.
