The project’s goal, according to Riot Art Director Sean Marino, was for the renders to be ” beautiful ” and ” culturally correct.” “In our opinion, rather than decorating the firearms with skulls to commemorate Dia de Los Muertos, it was an attempt to be more authentic.”
Instead of the now-standard “Skull and Marigold collages” used to commemorate the Day of the Dead, several Mexican artists were inspired to create this collection. “We took great care to appropriately reflect the event using graphics and colors,” Marino added.
To accomplish the art style, vivid colors and gradients are used to create a gorgeous effect. “We tried to strike a balance between simple and fancy,” Marino explained. The bright colors, on the other hand, give the design a contemporary feel.
“We saw this as an excellent opportunity to combine some of the visual components of weaponry into firearms utilizing our “day/night” technology, which changes based on whether you’re in a dark or light section of the map.”
According to Mariano, Riot has experimented with a variety of melee weapons, including switchblade knives, daggers, and even a skull-headed walking staff that pulls a sword from it. However, the creators ultimately chose to employ an old Mexican fighting knife. The Nunca Olvidados bundle, which will be available on October 20 at the Valorant store, is expected to cost 5,100 VP.
