Riot Games going to start publishing League of Legends & Teamfight Tactics in Southeast Asia – After 12 years of partnership with Garena, Riot Games stated that it will launch its own publishing of League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics in Southeast Asia from January 2023. League of Legends is popular with players from the Southeast. Since its release, Asia and Riot Games have guaranteed that through self-publishing, players in Southeast Asia will have the same League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics experience as everyone playing them around the world.

Riot Games already publishes its other titles such as Valorant, Legends of Runeterra, and League of Legends: Wild Rift in the region. Players will soon be able to use the official Riot Games multiplayer client to access and play Teamfight Tactics, Valorant, League of Legends, and Legends of Runeterra.

When League of Legends was released in 2009, there was only one server located in California, and players from Asia had to endure high pings (200-300) to play the game on their server. But soon after, Garena, a Singaporean game developer and publisher, came in and took over publishing League of Legends in their region.

Riot Games said that Garena has contributed to the growth of the League of Legends community in Southeast Asia and that it is grateful for the partnership. Riot has also steadily expanded its capabilities since then with a new operating model that focuses on the fast-growing Asia Pacific region, where the company has expanded its publishing reach to include India and Japan.

The step will officially close the publishing relationship between Garena and Riot in January 2023. Once the publishing transition is complete, players can look forward to events and rewards and access to Riot’s regional publishing services including localization, invoicing, and player support, in addition to local marketing activities.

League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics will be published in Taiwan and Vietnam by Taiwan Mobile and VNGGames.

As part of the transition, Riot Games will regain ownership and operation of the Vietnam Championship Series and continue to operate the Pacific Championship Series esports league.
