The other two regions namely Europe and Turkey will continue to host their regional matches as per the previously announced schedule.

Future of the Wild Rift EMEA Championship Series for CIS region

As the WREC for the CIS region has been canceled, Riot has decided to give away the total prize pool money for the tournament. It will be distributed among the teams that are still remaining in the Open Qualifiers of the Wild Rift EMEA Championship Series CIS Group. Hence, the teams that will have a stake at the prize money are:

  • CrowCrowd
  • FF5
  • 1218
  • Unicorns of Love
  • Relentless
  • Ultra-Weak
  • Dream Team
  • VP.Prodigy
  • Iron Spirit Gaming
  • Central
  • No Sympathy
  • Kamni

The final match in the WREC CIS Group was played on 23rd February, a day before the Russia-Ukraine conflict started. When the invasion did not show any signs of stopping, Riot had to cancel the tournament for this region on 5th March.

Riot Games plans to provide monetary aid for the Ukrainian humanitarian crises

The Russian invasion has caused a humanitarian crisis in Ukraine with a large population being forced to escape the war-affected territories. To address this humanitarian crisis, Riot has announced that will donate $1 million USD to three non-profit organizations supporting humanitarian relief here. Riot has also announced that all the revenue generated from battle pass sales between 5th and 12th March in VALORANT, Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics, and Wild Rift will be donated to provide monetary aid in Ukraine and other affected areas.

For the WREC finals that will happen in Barcelona, Spain, Riot had announced that two teams each from the 3 regions of Europe, Turkey, and CIS will qualify. As the tournament of the CIS group is now canceled, we have to see how Riot selects the seeded teams from this region. Stay tuned as we bring you more updates from the League of Legends: Wild Rift esports scenes.
