Pokimane urges to ban gambling on Twitch amidst ‘ItsSliker’ scam controversy – Time and again, the popular streaming star, Pokimane has raised her voice to ban gambling streams on Twitch. Following the recent gambling scam by fellow streamer ‘ItsSliker’, Poki calls for Twitch to restrict gambling streams on the purple platform.
Even though the gambling streams are against Twitch’s rules, streamers continue to find ways to capitalize on them. The result was what is referred to as “gamba meta,” and the platform is working to address it. In the past too, Pokimane expressed her dislike for gambling streams and stated that she would never fall for such ploys and accept a sponsorship contract for gaming.
Controversy erupted in the community when Twitch partner “ItsSliker” was accused of scamming viewers and other streamers of thousands of dollars. Later he acknowledged trying to milk followers and strangers out of thousands of dollars to cover his growing gambling debts. He has also confessed that his addiction to gambling resulted in such mishappenings. Soon after, many streamers including Pokimane called for a crackdown on gambling on Twitch.

Pokimane urges to ban gambling on Twitch amidst ‘ItsSliker’ scam controversy
Pokimane tweets on September 18 concerned about the gambling situation on the purple platform. The Twitch celebrity wrote, “Like if twitch should ban gambling,” which received huge support from the community. She urged fans and people alike to come together in support of taking strong actions against such exploitation. Later in a follow-up comment, she expressed that the community should compel Twitch to come up with strict regulations, ” with that’s why public pressure is necessary IMO, obviously they won’t do anything as long as it’s free money for them, but that’s not an outcome I want or am okay with.”
It’s quite unfortunate that people have to lose money because of something so vile as gambling. This is high time that Twitch doubles down on gambling streams.
