Pokemon GO 2023 Lunar New Year event: Celebrate the Year of the Rabbit with a new event in the game – Considering the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year, Pokemon GO has decided to celebrate it with a new event for its trainer. This Lunar New Year event will have Bunnelby, Buneary, and other similar ‘Year of the Rabbit’ event-themed Pokemons appearing more frequently in the wilderness. Here is all you need to know about the upcoming new event.

EVENT DURATION
The Lunar New Year event will start at 10:00 AM, Jan. 19, and will continue till 08:00 PM Jan. 23.

EVENT BONUSES
This event will provide the following benefits to the trainers:
- There will be an increased chance for Pokemon GO trainers to encounter Shiny Darumaka.
- Trainers will have an increased chance for getting Lucky Pokemons in trades.
- There will be an increased chance to become Lucky Friends.
- Trainers will receive 2× Stardust from opening Gifts.
- Trainers will be able to make one additional Special Trade (for a maximum of two per day).
- During the Lunar New Year event, Pokemon GO trainers can also choose from several bonuses as a reward for their Timed Research.
EVENT AVATAR ITEMS AND STICKERS
Pokemon GO trainers can get the Red-Lantern Backpack from the in-game shop to commemorate the Lunar New Year event. This item will continue to be available in the shop even after the event ends.

pokemon go lunar new year: timed research
During this event, Pokemon GO Trainers will be able to access branching Timed Research that grants their wish for bonuses that revolve around either hatching Eggs, the duration of Daily Adventure Incense, or collecting Stardust. Depending upon the chosen path, trainers will have different bonuses and tasks.
Irrespective of the path chosen, all trainers who complete the Timed Research will receive a Lucky Egg and other items. They will also have the opportunity to encounter the following Pokemons.
- Magikarp
- Azumarill
- Combusken
- Darumaka
- Galarian Darumaka
- Bunnelby
