PlayStation 5: Sony Sold 10 Million copies of PlayStation 5, making Record for Fastest selling Consoles: Sony has now sold over ten million PlayStation 5 consoles. This is up from Sony’s prior estimate of 7.8 million sales in April, indicating that the PS5 continues to outsell the PS4, making it the company’s fastest-selling console ever.
While the Sony PS5 was the company’s fastest-selling gaming system, it continues to be in limited supply in regions around the world due to a global chip shortage that has affected the schedules of a number of businesses. The PS5 continues to be in high demand in regions around the world, but Sony has so far been unable to please fans and gamers. Pre-orders for the smartphone were recently made available in India through Sony Centre, Flipkart, and Croma.
In just one month of sales in 2020, Sony sold over 4.5 million PlayStation 5 consoles. In the first quarter of 2021, over 3.3 million units were sold, following a strong start. These milestones have now been surpassed with the addition of the new 10 million sales threshold. According to the figures, the PlayStation 5 is Sony’s fastest-selling game console ever. Despite an ongoing chip scarcity that limits its availability, it beats the PlayStation 4 to the milestone by nearly a month.
In a statement, the company said ” We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our fans for the enthusiastic response to PS5 and our expanding gaming entertainment portfolio. This early achievement would not have been possible without your support and confidence. We’re making steady progress with worldwide supply, and we can’t wait for the day when everybody who wants a PS5 will be able to buy one easily”
“Our dedication to the PlayStation community as a whole, across all platforms and services, has never been stronger. So, wherever gamers are on their PlayStation journey, we’re dedicated to making PlayStation the finest place to play.”
While Sony continues to release console hardware statistics, Microsoft has stopped disclosing Xbox sales figures since the Xbox One period. During Microsoft’s earnings call yesterday, CEO Satya Nadella remarked, “We’re all in on games.” “With more systems sold life-to-date than any prior generation, the Xbox Series S and X are our fastest-selling consoles ever.
