ONIC Esports becomes the champion of the One Esports MPL Invitational 2021

One Esports MPL Invitational 2021: ONIC Esports becomes the champion of the MPL Invitational 2021 after defeating Blacklist International in a 3-1 series. The much-awaited Grand Finals in the ONE Esports MPL Invitational 2021 saw the best teams of Southeast Asia battle it out to becomes the champion. The winners of MPL Philippines, Blacklist International fought with the winners of MPL Indonesia, ONIC Esports. In the end, it was ONIC who came on top with their superior individual and team performances.

1^st Match

In the first match of the series, ONIC picked Cecilion, Bruno, Hylos, Paquito, and Mathilda. Blacklist went with Jawhead, Esmeralda, Bane, Estes, and Lunox. Blacklist’s Estes pick on OhMyV33nus was crucial as the healing kept the damage dealers alive as they took down the ONIC heroes. ONIC’s base was destroyed by Blacklist in the 14^th minute as they ended the game with a 12-5 kill score.

2^nd Match

In the second match, Blacklist picked Chou, Mathilda, Paquito, Lunox, and Bane while ONIC went with Rafaela, Yi Sun Shin, Esmeralda, Ruby and Natan. While ONIC was punishing their rivals with a better hero lineup in the early game, Blacklist was persevering and bounced back in the mid-game with their better pickoffs on ONIC heroes. But it was SANZ on his Yi Sun Shin who helped ONIC come back into the game. After many backs and forth teamfights around objectives, it was ONIC esports who conquered Blacklist’s base in the 14^th minute and won the game with a 13-10 kill score.

3^rd Match

ONIC took Yi Sun Shin, Rafaela, Hylos, Bane and Popol, and Kupa while Blacklist picked up late-game heroes like Granger, Harith, Paquito, Jawhead, and Mathilda. While Blacklist was slightly ahead in the early game, SANZ’s Yi Sun Shin started dealing huge damage from the mid-game and put ONIC on top again. ONIC continued putting pressure on Blacklist and finally ended the game in 12 minutes with a 13-6 kill score.

4^th Match

It was a match point for ONIC and they picked the double marksman hero combo with Claude, Natan, Esmeralda, Chou, Rafaela. Blacklist took Lunox, Bane, Mathilda, Paquito and Pharsa. ONIC was ahead in the early game as they picked up three quick kills within three minutes. While ONIC was ahead in kills, Blacklist farmed patiently and always looked for objectives and equalizers to be effective in the game. ONIC got the Lord, wiped out Blacklist, and looked to end the game in the 15^th minute but Edwards’s Paquito revived at the right time and defended Blacklist’s base successfully. Blacklist looked to push for ONIC’s base in return but got reverse wiped. ONIC quickly ended the game in the 17^th minute with a 23-15 kill score.

Conclusion

All the matches were very close with the momentum constantly shifting between ONIC and Blacklist. But it was ONIC Esports who persevered and won the series 3-1. They will be your champions for the ONE Esports MPL Invitational 2021 while Blacklist International will be the runner-ups of the tournament.
