Upper Bracket Semifinals – Gen.G vs T1
It was the rematch of the LCK Spring 2023 finals. But this time, T1 came prepared against their opponents. We saw Faker’s squad dominate in the first two games and crush any form of comeback attempts from Gen.G. T1 bagged back-to-back games and looked poised to clean sweep the series when they got a 2-0 lead.
In the third game also, T1 almost finished the game with a huge lead. But a bit of over-aggressiveness at Gen.G’s base cost them the match. Gen.G capitalized on the mistake and managed to secure the game in their favor. The win gave Gen.G a much-needed morale boost and they were able to convert the momentum into another victory in the fourth game.
As both teams went to the decider fifth game, the series became highly intense. The match looked 50-50 until Gen.G made a huge mistake, similar to T1’s in the third game. It gave T1 the opportunity to rush toward Gen.G’s nexus and destroy it, allowing them to get a hard-fought 3-2 victory.

Lower Bracket Round 1 – G2 Esports vs MAD Lions
Similar to the first series of the day, this one was a rematch of the LEC Winter 2023 finals. We saw G2 resurging from their previous defeat to clean sweep their opponents MAD, as they had done back in the LEC Winter 2023 finals.
But none of the games were an easy win as MAD players also gave their best in the series. There were times in all three games were MAD looked like they had better control of the game. But G2 always excelled and won crucial team fights, especially in the late game.
It felt as if MAD always felt short of some elements while skirmishing against G2. It gave G2 the opportunity to close all three games in their favor and whitewash MAD with a 3-0 series score.
With this victory, T1 moves to the Upper Bracket Semifinals while G2 moves to the Lower Bracket Round 2. Gen.G falls down to the Lower Bracket after their loss. MAD Lions’ journey at the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational ends here after their loss in the Lower Bracket.
