Game 1
G2 had a good early start in the first game of the series. Kudos to their jungler Yike’s heroics, they got the first blood and first Dragon. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there as Gen.G managed to come back. Chovy’s Ahri pick shined as Gen.G took control of the game and secured a victory to take a 1-0 lead.
Game 2
The next game was a clear stomp by Gen.G. Their ADC Peyz crushed the entire G2 lineup and gained such a huge amount of lead that he single-handedly won the game for his team. Gen.G recorded the fastest win at MSI 2023 (within 20 minutes) and Peyz’s KDA at the end was 13/1/2.

Game 3
With their backs against the wall, G2 played more carefully and had a decent start in the early game. But trouble came when Gen.G started aggressively pushing during the mid-game. Thankfully, G2 made some amazing plays and managed to win teamfights to gain control. They were able to win the game to register a 1-2 score.
Game 4
Gen.G played quite conservatively in the fourth game. Rather than going for kills, they focused on securing objectives. The game was still dead even against G2 but thankfully, Gen.G won a crucial team fight for the Baron. This was the turning point of the game and the LCK first seed easily destroyed G2’s nexus to get them a 3-1 series victory.
With this victory, Gen.G has advanced to the Upper Bracket Semifinals of the 2023 Mid-Season Invitational. They will be facing the victors in the MAD Lions vs T1 matchup. Meanwhile, G2 Esports still have some hope left in this tournament. They need to win through the Lower Bracket to advance further.
