MSI 2022 Semifinals Day 1: Royal Never Give Up stomp Evil Geniuses to advance to the Grand Finals- The Knockout Stage of the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational began today. Evil Geniuses (EG) and Royal Never Give Up (RNG) competed in the first Semifinals of the tournament. RNG was in top form and defeated EG 3-0 in the best-of-5 match series. Here is an overview of all the 3 matches on day 1 of the Semifinals of MSI 2022.

1st Match:

RNG picked Gwen, Jarvan IV, Galio, Kai’sa, and Nautilus for the first game. EG went with Gangplank, Nocturne, Corki, Xayah, and Leona. RNG decided to play aggressive and continuously ambushed EG champions. They also took almost every map objective throughout the game. From the mid-game, RNG’s gold lead kept increasing, and EG could never make a comeback. Thus, RNG won this match in 27 minutes with a 22-1 kill score against EG.

Score: RNG 1-0 EG

2nd Match:

In this game, RNG chose Gangplank, Wukong, Lissandra, Xayah, and Rakan. On the other hand, EG picked Ornn, Viego, Ahri, Jinx, and Tahm Kench. EG had a better-looking draft in this match and it helped them counter RNG till the start of the late game. But RNG’s methodical gameplay and focus on getting objectives helped them snowball in the late game. After picking Soul, RNG won the game in 35 minutes with a 19-15 kill score against EG.

Score: RNG 2-0 EG

3rd Match:

At match point, RNG picked similar champions from its second game. They chose Gangplank, Wukong, Lissandra, Xayah, and Braum. EG picked up Viego, Miss Fortune, Ahri, Ornn, and Nautilus. It looked like a typical one-sided stomp by RNG as they dominated the game till the 23rd-minute mark. But EG was able to make a comeback after managing to secure the first Baron Nashor.

Both teams competed fiercely as the match was swinging from one side to another at different points in the game. Although EG got the second Baron Nashor and Elder Dragon, it was not enough for them to end the game. RNG killed the third Baron Nashor and finally ended the 43 minutes-long game with a 27-16 kill score against EG.

Score: RNG 3-0 EG

With this win, Royal Never Give Up qualifies for the Grand Finals of the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2022. There, they will face the winners of the second Semifinals that will take place between T1 and G2 Esports tomorrow. Unfortunately for Evil Geniuses, their journey in the MSI 2022 ends here.
