MSI 2022: League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2022 will be held in Busan, South Korea- The regional Spring 2022 tournaments of League of Legends esports are currently in the Playoffs Stages. The champions crowned at these Riot Leagues will qualify for the second-largest international League esports event, the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2022. This year, MSI 2022 will be held in Busan, South Korea.

League of Legends MSI 2022: Qualifying teams

The esports teams that have won their respective regional Spring 2022 tournaments will qualify for this event. There are 11 Riot Leagues, so there will be 11 teams participating. The slots for this event will be:

  • LPL Spring winners (China)
  • LCK Spring winners (Korea)
  • LEC Spring winners (Europe)
  • LCS Spring winners (North America)
  • PCS Spring winners (Taiwan, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia)
  • VCS Spring winners (Vietnam)
  • LLA Opening winners (Latin America)
  • TCL Winter winners (Turkey)
  • CBLOL Split 1 (Brazil)
  • LJL Spring winners (Japan)
  • LCO Split 1 (Australia)

The LCL region (Russia and CIS) will not be participating in this year’s Mid-Season Invitational. It is because the LCL Spring was canceled due to the ongoing events in Ukraine.

League of Legends MSI 2022: Format

The top teams from 11 regions will compete in this year’s Mid-Season Invitational that is being held in Busan, South Korea. It will have the Group Stage, the Rumble Stage, and the Knockout Stage.

  • From 10th till 15th May: Teams will be drawn into two groups of four and one group of three to play a best-of-one double round-robin within their respective group during the Group Stage.
  • From 18th till 22nd May: The top two teams from each Group will move on to the Rumble Stage, where all six remaining teams will play a best-of-one double round-robin.
  • From 27th till 29th May: After this, the top four teams will advance to the Knockout Stage, where they will compete in a best-of-five, single-elimination round. The final two teams remaining will face off in the Finals to determine the best League of Legends team at the halfway mark of the competitive season. The winners will be crowned with the 2022 MSI Champion title.
