MrBeast officially overtakes PewDiePie’s crown of most-subscribed YouTube creator in the world- Months of speculation were going around to see famous YouTuber MrBeast overtake PewDiePie to emerge as the top following content creator on the red platform. And now, just days after reaching 111 million subscribers on the platform, MrBeast has officially replaced PewDiePie as YouTube’s most popular video creator.
On July 28, Donaldson overtook PewDiePie as the second YouTuber to surpass the 100-million subscriber milestone. Finally, MrBeast surpassed PewDiePie’s subscriber number on November 14, 2022, by a margin of a few thousand subs, with a total of 111,851,893 on his primary channel.

Donaldson has been active on YouTube since 2012, but his celebrity only grew in 2018 after he made significant donations to small Twitch streamers and YouTubers. He has produced extensive tournaments with followers participating in videos for the chance to win big prizes more lately. In a competition involving 456 fans last year, he replicated the Netflix series “Squid Game.” In June, he awarded $500,000 to a fan in a competition modelled after “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.”
In 2013, PewDiePie was recognised as the YouTuber with the largest subscriber base, and in August 2019, he became the first individual creator to reach the 100 million subscriber mark. A few months ago the king of YouTube was asked about his opinion on a possible overtake by MrBeast. His reaction was quite humbling as he really wanted someone else to surpass him on the platform. “Come on, I’ve been retired for like 2 years now. I can’t wait for it to be over… that’s alright he definitely deserves it. I hope he does it,” he said.
Now that the MrBeast will be ruling YouTube, it will be interesting to see what kind of other new and creative content he will come up with.
