Microsoft will launch Xbox credit card throughout United States in 2024 – In an unprecedented move, Microsoft is going to test its first-ever Xbox credit card later this month exclusively among Xbox testers in the United States. Back in 2005, Microsoft used to provide Xbox Live subscribers a free Xbox Live Diamond loyalty card. People could use this card to avail discounts at various retailers partnered with this program. Similarly, Sony has a PlayStation credit card which follows a points-based system. Users can redeem various games, movies, and even electronic products using the PlayStation credit card.

But the upcoming Xbox credit card is different from these. The Xbox Mastercard will be issued by Barclays, the bank headquartered in London. This credit card will not have any annual fee and any money spent through this card will give points to the user. These points can be redeemed for Xbox games and various add-ons.
Dave McCarthy, the CVP of Xbox player services said:
With the Xbox Mastercard credit card, players can earn card points with everyday purchases to redeem on games and add-ons at xbox.com. The Xbox Mastercard will be available exclusively to Xbox Insiders in the 50 United States beginning on September 21, with availability to all Xbox players in the 50 United States coming in 2024.
According to the Verge article, users will earn one point for every $1 spent at any regular store via the Xbox Mastercard. But using the Xbox credit card at the online Microsoft Store will provide five points for every $1 spent. Meanwhile, users can also earn three points for every $1 spent on streaming services like Netflix and Disney Plus or delivery services like DoorDash and Grubhub using the Xbox credit card.
After accumulating 1500 points, people can get a $15 gift card that can be used at the Xbox Store. While the Xbox Mastercard provides points that can be redeemed at the Xbox Store, it is not linked to Microsoft Rewards.
People who get Xbox Mastercard will receive 5,000 points ($50 value) as a bonus after making their first purchase using this credit card. They will also receive an additional three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate if they are new Game Pass members. Unfortunately, this perk cannot be used by existing Game Pass members..
People looking to get the Xbox Mastercard can choose from the five designs available with an additional option to input their gamer tag on the credit card. Xbox Insiders residing in Unite States, Alaska, and Hawaii will be able to apply for the Xbox Mastercard from Sept. 21.
