LoL Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage Day 4: Western League teams falter on the fourth day of Worlds Swiss Stage
We saw many top teams that had suffered a defeat previously battle it out to advance to the next round of the Swiss Stage.
T1 vs CLOUD9
League fans witnessed an almost perfect game at the beginning of the day. T1 thrashed C9 in all departments to win the match. Apart from 2 outer turrets, C9 was unable to secure even a single major map objective or kill. T1 players outclassed the LCS second seed team and closed the game in 22 minutes making it the fastest game of this stage.
NRG ESPORTS vs MAD LIONS
Western fans were hyped up for this NA vs EU rivalry and the teams did not disappoint. Both NRG and MAD gave their all, making the match sway from one sided to another until the end game. We often saw either MAD or NRG secure kills and objectives, only for the opponent team to make a comeback a few minutes later and change the momentum completely. NRG won the match in 41 minutes thanks to a cheeky backdoor against MAD’s exposed Nexus while the enemy were focusing on Elder Dragon.

BILIBILI GAMING vs FNATIC
Fnatic started the game on high note by securing first kill, dragon, and herald in the early game. Unfortunately, the european team was unable to convert this lead into anything substantial as BLG made a comeback. BLG outplayed Fnatic on multiple occasions in team fights to turn the tables and eventually won the game in nearly 33 minutes.
KT ROLSTER vs WEIBO GAMING
This was the most anticipated series of the day featuring top LCK and LPL teams. KT got an early lead thanks to some incredible plays but Weibo was still hanging not far behind them. Some misplays from KT were punished by Weibo, almost allowing the LPL fourth seed to get control of the game. But the final team fights at the Baron and Dragon pits were executed flawlessly by KT players and they won the game in 38 minutes.
After wins, T1, KT, BLG, and NRG move on to the 2-1 pool of the Swiss Stage joining LNG and G2. Meanwhile, the losing teams fall down to the 1-2 pool. Tomorrow, we will have the first two elimination matches of the Swiss Stage where the losing teams will be knocked out of the Worlds 2023 tournament. Team Liquid will take on GAM Esports while Dplus KIA will face Team BDS in best-of-3 series.
