The top 2 teams from LPL faced each other in the first best-of-3 series where as the LEC and LCK first seeds competed in the second series of the day.
JD GAMING vs LNG ESPORTS
The day started with a banger series between JDG and LNG. JDG had a strong start and were able to take the first game with their incredible team work and individual performances. But LNG also showed their mettle in the next game by executing their patient playstyle to the best of their abilities.

It allowed them to make a comeback and equalize the series. Unfortunately for them, JDG found their rhythm again in the third game and completely outclassed LNG in teamfights. Knight and 369 were the star players and played a crucial role in JDG winning the series by 2-1.
G2 ESPORTS vs GEN.G
Many League fans were anticipating the match between G2 and Gen.G. As the best western team, G2 carried the hopes of winning the tournament for its region. Unfortunately for them, they got stomped by Gen.G in the series. Whether it was the first or second game, G2 opted for an unorthodox champion draft that did not work in their favor.

Although G2 looked to better in the early game, the tables turned with Gen.G increasing its aggressiveness in the middle-to-late games. G2 kept on losing team fights and even if they secured an objective, Gen.G always traded with them on an equal scale. By the time Gen.G seiged G2’s Nexus, they had accumulated over 10,000 gold lead and were able to close out both games easily in similar fashion. Hence, Gen.G won the series by 2-0.
With these victories, Gen.G and JDG are out of the LoL Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage and qualify for the Quarterfinals. Moreover, they will be seeded on opposite sides of the bracket so that these teams will not meet until the Grand Finals. After losing, G2 and LNG will move to the 2-1 pool of the Swiss Stage. They will need to win one more game to make it to the Knockout Stage.
