LoL Worlds 2023 Play-In Day 3: PSG Talon and Team Whales advance to knockouts on Play-In Stage Day 3
The teams that had won in both Groups in the tournament faced each other today. In Group A, PSG Talon and LOUD faced off while in Group B, CTBC Flying Oyster played against Team Whales.
PSG TALON vs LOUD
PSG drafted better than LOUD in the series. This strategy helped them counter plays from LOUD as well as secure objectives more easily in both games. LOUD won some team fights in the first game but were unable to stop PSG’s momentum and lost. In the second game, PSG gained many objectives and converted them into advantages. LOUD failed to make a comeback and hence PSG clean swept them by 2-0.

CTBC FLYING OYSTER vs TEAM WHALES
It seems as if Team Whales have a pattern to win series—lose first game badly, make a comeback in the second game, win the third game with their best performance. Like their series against Team BDS yesterday, Whales won their series today against Flying Oysters in a similar fashion. The Oysters had a strong start in the series and won their first match due to their better draft.
But Whales turned the momentum around by dominating in the second game to equalize the series. Both teams gave their best performance in the third game and it was Team Whales that had the last laugh and won the series by 2-1.
Team Whales and PSG Talon will now move on to the knockout stage of the Play-Ins. They will have to compete in a best-of-5 series there and win to advance to the Swiss Stage of Worlds 2023. After losing today, LOUD and CTBC Flying Oyster will fall to the lower bracket of Play-In Stage where they must win to advance and stay alive in the tournament.
