LoL Worlds 2022: Saigon Buffalo becomes the first VCS 2022 team to qualify for the tournament – The teams from Riot League in Vietnam (VCS) have been dark horses at international tournaments. In last year’s Worlds competition, VCS was unable to attend the event due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. But this time, they will look to return with a bang!
We now have the first team to qualify for LoL Worlds 2022 from the region, Saigon Buffalo. Let us take a close look at the team.

In the ongoing VCS Summer split, Saigon Buffalo won against GAM Esports to qualify for Worlds this year. Although it was a close 3-2 series, we saw some epic performances from Saigon. Their AD carry Shogun got a Penta kill in this series to register the first win for the team.

Saigon Buffalo’s entry might make this year’s Worlds tournament more crazy and unpredictable. In the Mid-Season Invitational earlier this year, Saigon Buffalo thrashed G2 Esports on the last day of the Rumble Stage. PSG Talon, a team from the PCS region, had even defeated in both of their matchups at MSI.
These losses had definitely affected G2 as they were stomped 3-0 by T1 in the Knockout Stage. Thus the LEC and LCS teams must be wary of teams like Saigon Buffalo. With this new entry, we now have 11 teams that have made it to LoL Worlds 2022.
- LCK – Gen.G, T1
- LPL – Top Esports, JDG
- LEC – G2 Esports, Rogue, MAD Lions
- LCS – 100 Thieves, Cloud9
- LLA – Isurus
- VCS – Saigon Buffalo
