LoL Worlds 2022 Quarterfinals Day 4: DRX pulls off a nearly impossible reverse sweep, eliminating defending world champions EDG – The fourth Quarterfinal of League of Legends 2022 World Championship may well be termed as the best series in the tournament yet. We saw some awesome performances from the individual players as well as both teams. Every match in this series was a close one but it was DRX who triumphed in the end.
Despite losing the first two games, they played patiently to pull off an incredible reverse sweep. It is only the second time that such a thing has happened at any Worlds tournament. Here is the recap of the incredible series.
LoL Worlds 2022: Quarterfinals Day 4
DRX VS EDward gaming
GAME 1
In the first game of the series, DRX went with their unique Heimerdinger and Ashe pick against a solid EDG lineup. But it was not enough as EDG’s Scout on his Azir secured the game for his team. The LPL team won in 35 minutes taking a lead.

GAME 2
The second game was an intense one for fans at LoL Worlds 2022. Even though DRX had built up a solid gold lead from the mid-game, they were not able to stop EDG’s scaling lineup in the late game. Deft’s Ezreal back door was almost successful as he was just one hit away from destroying EDG’s nexus. But the inhibitor turrets spawned right at this moment allowing EDG to defend and push for the win.
GAME 3
Even with their back against the wall, DRX still went with non-meta comfortable picks. On the other hand, EDG drafted a solid lineup in this match-point game. But thanks to some awesome performances from Deft’s Draven and Zeka’s Sylas, DRX managed to scrape off a victory in this 42-minute-long game, preventing a clean sweep.

Fans saw some incredible moments from Kingen’s Camille, Zeka’s Azir, Pyosik’s Sejuani, Deft’s Kalista, and BeryL’s Ashe. The combined performance from the DRX members helped them shut down EDG to equalize the series 2-2.
GAME 5
The result of the series was determined in the decider game five. While EDG drafted their strongest lineup, we saw DRX go for a mix of meta and unique champions. Although the matchup seemed close until the mid-game, Zeka’s Sylas and Pyosik’s Viego took the game away with their incredible plays. After taking down the Ocean Dragon Soul, DRX closed the game to win the series 3-2.
