They beat Liiv SANDBOX 3-1 to qualify for the grand finals of the 2022 LCK Summer.
Their opponents T1 also had a strong showing in the regular season. But in playoffs, they won a close 3-2 series against DWG KIA to enter the grand finals.

Game 1
Gen.G looked dominating from the start of the series. In game one, they were able to out-draft T1’s composition by getting Zeri and Azir. On his Zeri pick, Ruler completely crushed the enemy team in the late game, getting even a quadra to kill to punish T1’s Baron push.
This helped Gen.G to snowball and end the game within 38 minutes with a 19-8 kill score. Ruler’s Zeri was monstrous has he got a 16/1/1 KDA in this game.
Game 2
The story remained the same even in the next game. T1 got out drafted even in this game and it caused them their doom. From the start, Gen.G looked more capable in skirmishes with their balanced picks.
The game completely fell into Gen.G’s laps when a beautiful combo by Chovy’s Sylas with the stolen Gnarr ultimate. It helped them ace T1 and get the Baron. With this buff, they were able to destroy the enemy nexus within 27 minutes with a 17-2 kill score. Chovy’s 9/0/5 KDA made him the star in this game.

Game 3
With their backs against the walls, T1 decided to apply a different strategy, They picked top lane Mordekaiser for Zeus but unfortunately gave away the Zeri-Yuumi combo.
It proved to be a mistake as Ruler and Lehends dominated the Summoner’s Rift with these bottom lane champions. Even Faker’s Ahri was not able to do anything against this in-form Gen.G lineup.
While T1 managed to get some map objectives, they were never able to match the scaling of the Zeri-Yuumi combo. Thus, Gen.G was able to close out the game in 34 minutes with an 11-3 kill score.

Gen.G had never lifted any LCK title since they entered the competitive League of Legends scene. This victory provided them with their first major regional win.
Their next spot will be North America, where they will participate in LoL Worlds 2022. The team will look to carry their momentum to the tournament and hopefully earn the chance to lift the Summoner’s Cup as well.
