JAYCE
- Role – Fighter
- Difficulty – Moderate
- Lane – Top Lane
League of Legends Wild Rift is going to launch a new champion on 9th November 2021 at 8:01 (GMT+8). It is going to be Jayce, the Defender of Tomorrow. He is going to be a Fighter that will go to the Top Lane. Wild Rift Jayce is a strong pick in the top/baron lane as he has both melees and ranged attack options. Thus he bullies most champions in this lane. Here is a complete Wild Rift Jayce guide on “How to build items, runes, and spells” on him.
RUNES
Jayce is good at poking because he can change between melee and ranged attacks. Thus he needs runes that help him scale his ability power, maintain mana or let him go in and out of combat easily.

ABILITIES
Jayce is the only champion in Wild Rift whose skills change when he uses his ultimate Transform Mercury Cannon/Hammer. In Mercury Hammer mode, he uses melee skills, and in Mercury Cannon mode, he uses ranged skills. His skill cooldowns in each mode are separate from one another.
HEXTECH CAPACITOR (PASSIVE)
When Jayce switches between Mercury Hammer or Mercury Cannon, he gains a movement speed for a short duration. Wild Rift Jayce Guide
TO THE SKIES! / SHOCK BLAST
In To The Skies! (Mercury Hammer), Jayce leaps to an enemy dealing physical damage and slowing enemies. In Shock Blast (Mercury Cannon), Jayce fires an orb of electricity that detonates upon hitting an enemy or reaching the end of its path, dealing physical damage to all enemies hit.
LIGHTNING FIELD / HYPER CHARGE
In Lightning Field (Mercury Hammer), the passive allows Jayce to restore mana with each strike while the active ability creates a field of lightning that damages nearby enemies for some seconds. In Hyper Charge (Mercury Cannon), Jayce gains a burst of energy that increases his attack speed to maximum for some seconds.
THUNDERING BLOW / ACCELERATION GATE
In Thundering Blow (Mercury Hammer), Jayce deals magic damage to an enemy and knocks them back a short distance. In Acceleration Gate (Mercury Cannon), he deploys a gate that increases the movement speed of him and all allied champions that pass through it. If Shock Blast is fired through the gate, its speed, range, and damage will increase.
MERCURY CANNON / MERCURY HAMMER
If you are in Mercury Hammer stance, clicking it will change your weapon to Mercury Cannon providing new abilities and extra range on attacks. The first attack in this form reduces the target’s armor and magic resistance.
If you are in Mercury Cannon, clicking it will change your weapon to Mercury Cannon providing new abilities, increasing your armor and magic resistance, and making you a melee champion. The first attack in this form deals additional magic damage. Jayce Guide
Jayce’s Transform ultimate is open from the beginning of the game and is not required to be leveled up.
BUILD
Manamune – Jayce gets +25 attack, +20 ability haste and +300 mana. The Awe passive gives bonus attack damage equal to 1.5% of maximum mana and refunds 15% of mana used. The Mana Charge passive grants charge every 4 seconds and up to 3 charges. Doing a successful basic attack or using mana consuming abilities uses a charge and grants +10 mana up to 700. When +700 mana is reached, it changes to Muramana.
Plated Steelcaps or Mercury Treads – Depending upon your lane rival or the overall composition of the enemy team, you can go for either Plated Steelcaps for extra armor or Mercury Treads for extra magic and crowd control resistance. You can upgrade them into a Glorious Enchant for chasing down enemies or Teleport Enchant if your focus is on split pushing or flanking the enemies.
Serylda’s Grudge – Jayce gets a +40 attack damage and +15 ability haste. The Last Whisper passive gives +30% armor penetration while the Bitter Cold passive slows enemies by 30% for 1 second while doing ability damage.
Black Cleaver – Jayce gets +35 attack damage, +25 ability haste, and +350 health. The Sunder passive reduces the armor of enemies by 5% for 6 seconds and stacks up to 5 times, i.e. 25% when you do physical damage. The Rage passive grants extra movement speed for hitting or killing enemies. The amount differs for the Mercury Hammer (melee) and Mercury Cannon (ranged) stances.
Dead Man’s Plate – It gives +225 health and +50 armor to Jayce while the Relentless passive gives +5% movement speed. The Momentum passive builds up stacks on moving, up to a 100 stacks that give 50 movement speed. Basic attacks and Impaired crowd control remove this. The Crushing Blow passive converts all the momentum into bonus magic damage equal to the number of stacks while doing a basic attack. The maximum momentum stack also slows by 50% for 1 second if you do a melee basic attack.
Sterak’s Gaze – It gives +400 health to Jayce and the Heavy Handed passive allows him to receive 50% of his base attack damage as bonus attack damage. The Lifeline passive is crucial as it allows Jayce to gain a shield by absorbing his bonus health and decays in 3 seconds when he receives damage that can lower his maximum health to below 35%. The shield has a 90-second cooldown. On using Lifeline passive, Jayce also starts Sterak’s Fury passive that increases his size and gives him 30% Tenacity for 3 seconds.
The three attack items are pretty standard. The last two defensive items can be changed to adapt to the requirements of the ongoing match.
