LEC Winter 2024 Playoffs Day 2: Vitality and Fnatic storm into the next round – We are midway into the first week of the LEC Winter 2024 Playoffs and have finally confirmed the four teams advancing to the Upper Bracket Semifinals. On the second day, Team Vitality took on SK Gaming while MAD Lions KOI faced Fnatic.
Vitality surprised everyone by clean sweeping their opponents while Fnatic showcased their mettle by winning the series with some incredible plays. Here is a recap of the both the matchups.

Team Vitality vs SK Gaming
Despite having a lackluster regular season performance, Team Vitality came out with all guns blazing in the playoffs. They out drafted SK Gaming in both games of the series by getting Yone and Lee Sin for their mid laner Vetheo. This played them immense dividends as he was picked up crucial kills in team fights.

In the first game, Vitality were able to slowly choke down SK by securing objectives and winning skirmishes from the early stage of the match. They snowballed with this lead and closed out the game in 26 minutes. SK played better in the second game and were toe-to-toe with Vitality. But during chaotic team fights Vitality’s highly mobile lineup was able to demolish SK, allowing them to win the series in a dominating 2-0 fashion.
MAD Lions KOI vs Fnatic
Fans saw some creative drafts from both teams in the series. In the first game, MAD Lions KOI went for Bel’veth and Zac for their jungle-top while Fnatic went for Brand and Darius. There were many close moments during team fights but it was Fnatic that came out on top in most occasions. It allowed them to shut down MAD and win the game in 27 mins.

The second game was the longest one in the LEC Winter 2024 Playoffs so far. Both teams opted to go for a poke composition and continuously traded blows. Although the momentum swayed between both teams alternatively, Fnatic had an advantage due to securing Chemtech Dragon Soul. The game stretched to 48 minutes with Fnatic destroying MAD’s nexus after winning the second Elder Dragon fight. It was a hard-fought 2-0 series win for Fnatic.
Fnatic and Team Vitality move onto the Upper Bracket Semifinals. It will be held on Feb. 5, from 9.30PM IST. G2 Esports and Fnatic will go head-to-head while Team Vitality will face Team BDS. Meanwhile, MAD and SK fall down to the Lower Bracket Round 1 and will face GIANTX and Heretics respectively.
