League of Legends Wild Rift Esports: Season 1- During the Season 2022 Premiere of League of Legends, there was a significant portion dedicated to the Wild Rift esports. Leo Faria, the Global Head of Wild Rift Esports, talked about the roadmap that the game will follow this year. Here are all the announcements that he made.

League of Legends Wild Rift Esports: Regions and their Starting Dates

There will be eight regions that will be representing the global Wild Rift esports scene. Each will have its own regional competitive circuit from where the teams will qualify for the international stage events. The regional series and their starting date are:

  • North America will have the Wild Rift North America Series that will begin in February 2022.
  • Latin America will have Wild Rift Latinoamerica Open that will begin on 28th January 2022.
  • Brazil will have the Wild Tour Brasil which starts from 13th January 2022.
  • Europe, the Middle East + Africa will have the Wild Rift Championship EMEA which begins on 5th February 2022.
  • Mainland China will have Wild Rift League that commences in March 2022.
  • South Korea will have the Wild Rift Champions Korea which will start from 14th February 2022.
  • Japan will have the Wild Rift Cup Japan that begins on February 2022.
  • Southeast Asia + Oceania will get the Wild Rift Champions SEA that starts from 22nd January 2022.

Format

Leo also told us about the format of the esports scene.

  • The regional competitions will be held from January to May.
  • The regional champion teams will then qualify for the first official international tournament – Wild Rift ICONS Global Championship.
  • This tournament will be held in Europe in the Summer of 2022.
  • The Wild Rift ICONS Global Championship will be the highest level of competitive play in the game. The winners of this event will be crowned as the Wild Rift World Champion.
  • Wild Rift ICONS Global Championship will feature 24 teams.
    • 8 teams will qualify by winning the regional competitions.
    • 16 teams will qualify by battling through the Play-Ins stage.
