League of Legends: Wild Rift announces that the game will not support low-end iOS devices. One of the main reasons why League of Legends: Wild Rift got popular was that it was launched on both Android and iOS devices at the same time. Hence it was able to develop a player base on both these mobile platforms. Unfortunately, there is some sad news for the Wild Rift iOS player community. The Wild Rift team has announced that the game will not be supported on low-end iOS devices from patch 3.1.
Wild Rift will not be supported in the following devices:
- Apple iPhone 6
- Apple iPhone 6 Plus
- Apple iPad Air (1st Gen)
- Apple iPad Mini 2
- Apple iPad Mini 3
The Wild Rift team explains the reason for stopping support for these low-end iOS devices
Ben Forbes who is the Communications Lead at League of Legends: Wild Rift, has talked about the problems which the developers were facing by optimizing the game for these low-end devices. While the latest iOS versions launched each year sets new benchmarks, making it easier for game developers to bring in more features into Wild Rift, providing requirements of supporting certain hardware specs to run the game is not feasible anymore. The low-end iOS devices mentioned above cause significant extra work for the Wild Rift dev teams to support and are also becoming increasingly difficult with each patch for the game.
If players still try to play League of Legends: Wild Rift on these devices, especially for Patch 3.1 and beyond, they will likely see crashes, black screens, or other technical issues. This can deteriorate the playing experience of anyone. Hence the Wild Rift team recommends using a more powerful and newer device to play the game. It will allow the game to run more smoothly while also providing a better playing experience to people.
