League of Legends Patch 12.5b: Champion Buffs
The following champions will receive a buff in the upcoming patch:
- Master Yi
- Varus
- Draven
- Ashe
- Lucian
From the list given above, the buff of Master Yi was expected. He had received a hotfix nerf previously by Riot Games which decreased his win rate percentage in the ranked games quite drastically. With this upcoming buff, the devs will hope that he once again becomes a viable pick. All the other champions are marksmen. They needed a buff as there are a lot of defensive items present in the game now. A boost in their basic attack, skills, or stats can help them deal more damage or survive in the game.
Champion Nerfs
The following champions will be hit with the nerf hammer by Riot Games:
- Ryze
- Zeri
- Jinx
- Aphelios
The nerf of the Zeri, Jinx, and Aphelios is not surprising. Since the release of Zeri in Season 12, these 3 marksmen have become a contested pick for the bottom lane both in ranked games and esports matches. Jinx is currently the most picked ADC in global competitive play, having a high 83 percent pick-ban rate. Following her, Aphelios is has a 64 percent pick-ban rate, and also has the second-highest pick count among drafted champions. Due to her high mobility and insane burst damage, Zeri has the third-most bans of any champion featured in the competitive matches with 1067 bans across all regions.
Item Nerfs
Locket of the Iron Solari will be receiving a nerf in this upcoming patch. This item had become a staple pick for support champions in ranked games. It is especially used by players on Platinum or higher ranks because it provides a lot of resistance to the champion and its allies.
The patch 12.5b is set to release today, 9th March. Let us see how it changes the ongoing meta of League of Legends.
