League of Legends 11.23 Patch Notes: Developers nerf down Objective Bounties secretly to balance the 11.23 patch. It has been some time since the League of Legends developers rolled out the Objective Bounties feature in the preseason 12 update. But this newest idea that was intended to balance out the game, has become a contentious factor in the update.
The Objective Bounties was a comeback mechanic whose aim was to help the lagging team to catch up and compete with the rival team. This was done by providing the lagging team with additional gold when they took down turrets, dragons, Rift Heralds, and other objectives within the Summoner’s Rift.
League of Legends 11.23 Patch Notes: Problems that players faced with the Objective Bounties feature
This feature has now received flak from everyone as it is still not perfectly implemented and varies by a lot in every game. Oftentimes, the lagging team does not get any bounties even on claiming the objectives on the map. The opposite is also happening as the leading team also receives bounties when they claim objectives, even though they have a huge gold lead
The Riot Games developers are working on this and have already released a secret 11.23 additional patch update on 24th November. This patch was aimed at reducing the impact of the Objective Bounties feature. Here are a few problems that were occurring, as explained by Matthew Leung-Harrison, Senior Game Designer at Riot Games.
- The objective bounties feature was being reset during the game whenever a turret got a kill. This led to teams lagging with a small gold deficit to jump far ahead by taking advantage of the timer reset.
- The dragons were not being calculated properly for the objective bounties. Thus leading team (that took down the Soul Dragon) on receiving a setback will still get Objective Bounties because of this.
Riot Games’ stance on this
Riot Games has made its stance clear on the fact that it will not be taking down the feature just because it has impacted the already set playstyle. Leung-Harrison told that players will learn more about this feature with time and improve their gameplay to adapt to this. The current shock is because this is a brand new idea that has painfully impacted the playstyle of many players. Riot Games is quite confident as they believe this feature will improve the overall game.
