LCK Summer 2023 Winner: Gen.G defeats T1 to lift its second LCK trophy of the year
Gen.G had defeated T1 in the Upper Bracket Finals. Hence, they were favorites coming into the series. Although Faker’s return helped T1 beat other teams to advance in the Playoffs, their previous flaws had remained and Gen.G exploited them to win the Grand Finals series.

Game 1
In the first game of the series, Gen.G was able to counter T1 Zeus’ Aatrox champion pick and lower the top lane threat. They also punished T1’s out-of-meta Lucien and Nami picks in the bottom lane. Gen.G Peyz’s Zeri soon became a threat on the Summoner’s Rift and was able to help the team get a lead in the series with a 12/0/6 KDA.
Game 2
Despite T1 changing their team composition in the second game, Gen.G was able to answer back with their own unique lineup. With the help of his teammates, Peyz again became the star of the show. Not only did he dominate his enemy counterpart, but he also crushed T1 members in the late game. His 12/0/3 KDA showcased how important he was in Gen.G securing the victory.
Game 3
With their backs against the wall, T1 finally looked to regain their form in the third game. They looked more confident and were able to win multiple team fights in the mid-game that helped shift the momentum in their favor. But a single overextension from T1 Gumayusi’s Draven enabled Gen.G to bounce back in the game. T1’s hope finally crumbled as Gen.G were able to bounce back and win the game, completing a 3-0 clean sweep.
After winning the LCK Summer 2023, Gen.G have become the LCK reigning champions for 3 consecutive times. It seems T1 is still not able to break their curse of losing in the Grand Finals of a tournament. In the past 3 years since the creation of the current T1 roster, they have reached the Grand Finals of different tournaments 7 times, out of which they only won once and lost 6 times.
