Krafton owned Striking distance is currently working on a new survival horror called The Callisto Protocol. In 2020, it was first revealed in a horrifying teaser at the Game Awards. The Callisto Protocol gameplay has now been revealed, coupled with a December 2, 2022 release date. Schofield hopes to “make the most horrific game on next-gen platforms” with The Callisto Protocol, which will be set on Jupiter.
About Callisto Protocol
That influence is evident in the reveal trailer, which features terrifying beasts and zombie-like creatures across Jupiter’s moon’s future landscape. The Callisto Protocol was meant to take place in the same universe as PUBG, however, it was recently revealed that this would no longer be the case.
The Callisto Protocol is set in 2320 on Jupiter’s “dead moon” Callisto and tells the narrative of Jacob Lee, an inmate at Black Iron Prison who must battle for his survival as the moon is thrown into turmoil by a strange outbreak. Jacob must fight to survive the horrors of Black Iron and uncover the hidden secrets of the United Jupiter Company as prison guards and convicts mutate into hideous beasts known as Biophage.
It’s difficult to create terrible situations in games. To bring this game concept world to life, the team employs a technique known as Horror Engineering to handcraft unforgettable scares. To excite gamers, it’s all about merging mood, tension, cruelty, helplessness, and humanity… and, ideally, scare the living daylights out of them.
PS5, Xbox One, and PC are the only platforms for the game that have been revealed thus far. However, because Callisto Protocol is published by Krafton, the same company that brought PUBG to Stadia, there’s a chance it’ll end up on Google’s streaming service.
