Krafton is considering suing the Chinese film studio for their movie which is similar to PUBG IP: A Chinese film studio has recently released an esports battle royale movie marketed as the first of its kind in the world. The movie titled “Biubiubiu” has very close similarities with Krafton’s popular battle royale game Player Unknowns Battlegrounds (PUBG). People who have already watched the movie, cannot stop themselves from comparing “Biubiubiu” with PUBG, which has increased Krafton’s concerns.

Daniel Ahmad, an industry insider had tweeted on the 15th of August about the ongoing situation, answering some of the questions. His tweet said that the Chinese Film Studio has denied any similarities with PUBG, even though the movie is so similar that the similarities are not ignorable. His tweet also informed about the possibility of Krafton suing the Studio for the similitude of the movie with PUBG.
Biubiubiu’s plot itself has a lot like the PUBG ecosystem, the plot summary is that a not-so-lucky eSports streamer and athlete who is down after trying really hard to win a single tournament forms an esports team with his friends to redeem himself in an FPS Battle Royale game (really similar to PUBG in design and other things) and win a huge eSports tournament. This movie is a live-action movie that is used to depict the gameplays inside an ongoing esports tournament.
Considering the popularity of PUBG IP in the global circuit this comes as no surprise that the movie has drawn inspiration from the game, despite this, there is no official tie-up with Peacekeeper Elite ( Chinese version of PUBG Mobile) or the global Version of PUBG or PUBG Mobile. Even if you take a look at the poster for the movie and you have played or come across PUBG or PUBG mobile you’ll instantly know how similar these two are.
